America's Trojan Horse Is Already Inside the Gates
Tuesday, December 9, 2025
According to Greek mythology – and some historical records – in the 12th or 13th century BC, war broke out between Greece (the Achaeans) and the city of Troy when Paris, the prince of Troy, absconded with Helen, the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta. After a 10-year siege of the city, Odysseus – who along with Agamemnon and Achilles was one of the main protagonists of the story – devised a scheme to fool the Trojans.
The Greeks built an enormous wooden horse, which was hollowed out to house between 30 and 40 men. It was then left outside the gates of Troy, supposedly as an offering to the god Athena in exchange for a safe voyage back to Greece. Meanwhile, the rest of the Greek soldiers burned their tents, boarded ships, and sailed out of sight.
Despite multiple warnings to “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts”, the Trojans decided to bring the horse into the city, believing that they had won the decade-long war. However, as soon as night fell, the men inside the horse crawled out and unlocked the city gates… allowing the Greek soldiers, who had sailed back under cover of darkness, to swarm into Troy.
Did I just describe the fall of Troy or the fall of America?
Now don’t get me wrong; I am not anti-immigration. After all, like virtually every American citizen, I am the child of immigrants. My ancestors – the Gladings, the Gerkes, the MacDowells, the Coxes, and the Kellys – all came over from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Germany in the late 1800s to forge a new and better life in America. They became part of the Great American Melting Pot, a term derived from Israel Zangwell’s 1908 play.
The melting pot metaphor assumes two key elements: a willingness to adopt American customs, language, and values while blending into the dominant culture; and the creation of a strong and unified national identity that brings cohesion rather than division. However, in order for that cohesion to occur, immigrants must stop emphasizing their differences and instead, start celebrating their commonalities.
E pluribus unum… out of many, ONE!
That motto has been part of the Great Seal of the United States since 1782 and along with our official national motto – In God We Trust – has formed the fabric of who we are as a people.
It used to mean something. Nowadays, I’m not so sure, because more recent immigrants seem less willing to become part of the melting pot than ever before. Instead, they insist on speaking their native language in public, let alone at home, and expect government documents (including voting ballots) to be printed in every conceivable tongue.
Entire cities, such as Hamtramck (and eventually Dearborn), Michigan, are now majority Muslim, most of their new residents having emigrated from Yemen, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. New York City, particularly the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, now have the largest Muslim metro populations in America while Chicago is a major hub for Arab, South-Asian, and African-American Muslims. Houston, Texas and Patterson, New Jersey are also experiencing large influxes of Muslim immigrants and Minneapolis, Minnesota is home to 70,000-80,000 Somali Muslims, who have become so influential that the Adhan (call to prayer) is now broadcast from speakers throughout the city year-round.
Believe it or not, we even have a United States congresswoman, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who considers herself to be Somali first and American second.
Folks, I may be an evangelical Christian, but I do not oppose the legal immigration of Muslims into the United States. However, I do believe that (1) they should be properly vetted; (2) there should be manageable quotas from every country, especially predominantly Muslim ones that have a history of producing radical Islamic terrorists; and (3) those Muslims who emigrate to America must swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution over Sharia law. No exceptions.
Unvetted mass immigration (both legal and illegal) was a core component of the Biden administration’s failed foreign policy… and we are now reaping the negative consequences. By opening our borders to people who don’t want to become Americans – but instead want to change and/or destroy America’s longstanding culture, values and ideals – we have opened our gates and brought a Trojan Horse into our very midst.
Are we that foolish and naïve or just plain suicidal?
What we need are politicians who will insist that the floodgates be closed; that illegal immigrants be deported, starting with those who have committed secondary crimes while here; and that those who remain willingly integrate into the American mainstream.
America… love it or leave it!
