Follow the Money… or Should I Say the Cheese?

Do you remember when the Walt Disney Company got its panties in a twist because the State of Florida made it illegal for public school teachers to lead discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade? Disney, the National Education Association (NEA), and others purposely mischaracterized HB 1557, otherwise known as the Parental Rights in Education Act, by calling it the “Don’t Say Gay Act”.
Both Disney and the NEA insisted that the new law would create a hostile learning environment by discriminating against LGBTQ students, educators, and administrators, while infringing on their First Amendment rights… as if sexual orientation and gender identity are top-of-mind for 5-year-olds everywhere.
Give me a break, you pervs. You’re just upset because the Republicans in Tallahassee wanted to make you wait until fourth grade before you started indoctrinating our children.
Despite Disney’s lies, the bill passed, and Gov. Ron DeSantis signed it into law in 2022. However, after multiple legal challenges, an agreement was reached in which teachers were permitted to discuss a limited number of sexual topics as long as they weren’t part of the regular curriculum.
Fast forward to 2025, just three short years later.
Disney, which used to be a symbol of wholesomeness before abandoning traditional family values in favor of sexual deviancy, has just announced plans to open yet another overseas amusement park. Joining Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disney, Paris Disneyland, Shanghai Disney, and Hong Kong Disneyland will be (drum roll, please)… a Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Yes, that same UAE where homosexuality and cross-dressing are illegal, and sodomy is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
But let’s not allow the facts to get in the way of a little fun… and a lot of money.
According to a Disney press release, “The waterfront resort will connect travelers from the Middle East and Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and beyond. This seventh Disney theme park resort will combine Disney’s iconic stories, characters and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture.”
“What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi,” said His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, “is a whole new world of imagination — an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world, creating magical moments and memories that families will treasure forever.”
Yeah, right, whatever. The truth of the matter is that Disney couldn’t pass up the chance to add to its $91 billion in annual revenues or its $196 billion in total assets and neither could Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi.
And so, forget about the Human Dignity Trust’s claims that “the gender expression of trans people is criminalized” in the UAE with sentences including “a maximum penalty of death” or that “LGBT people are subject to discrimination and violence”. If a buck can be made, all bets are off as far as Mickey Mouse is concerned.
After all, what do you expect from a company that Wikipedia describes as “an American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate” that ranks 48th on the Fortune 500 list of biggest companies in the United States by revenue and 87th on the 2023 Forbes Global 2000?
And so, Disney Abu Dhabi (or whatever they plan to call it) will join the company’s portfolio that includes Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, 20th Century Animation, Searchlight Pictures, the ABC television network, and cable networks such as ESPN, the Disney Channel, Freeform, FX, National Geographic, and Hulu… not to mention multiple hotels, resorts, and cruise lines around the world.
Maybe it’s just me, but I much preferred Mickey when he had a little less money and a lot more integrity. I just don’t want to hear him squeak about social justice anymore, because he has lost all credibility in that area.
Say cheese!
