The Speech President Trump SHOULD Make

Former President Donald Trump has said that he will make a major announcement on Tuesday, November 15th. Speculation is that he will announce his plans to run for President in 2024.

I am under no illusions that the following speech will make its way onto Mr. Trump's teleprompter. However, I would give my eye teeth to see him ditch his prepared remarks in favor of these far more conciliatory and statesmanlike words.

My fellow Americans, it is a distinct privilege to address you tonight in the wake of last week’s midterm elections. We won some and we lost some, but at least a system of checks and balances has been put in place to curb the advance of President Biden’s radical progressive agenda.

Our next step in taking America back is the 2024 election, where our country will select a new president, 33 senators, 435 representatives, and 11 governors. That is why I am speaking to you tonight, to share with you my intentions for 2024.

Let me begin by saying that the past is the past and there is nothing to be gained from relitigating the 2020 elections. The only thing that matters is moving America forward to be better, stronger, and more reflective of its greatest strengths: its founding principles and its people.

For four years, I willingly bore the responsibility of serving my fellow citizens to the best of my ability and to ensure that our founding principles were followed as closely as possible. Our Founders – and future generations of Americans – deserved no less. Together, we experienced some monumental highs such as a record economy built on energy independence and less regulation. Our nation was at peace, and America was respected by our friends and feared by our enemies.

Sadly, we also experienced a few lows, many of them the result of the pandemic that claimed more than one million American lives. How I wish I could have prevented such a tragedy, but it was not humanly possible. Instead, we cut through the red tape to develop a COVID vaccine in record time in order to save as many lives - and alleviate as much suffering - as possible.

But enough about my first term in office. There has been much speculation about whether I will run for president in 2024, to seek to finish the job that I started – that we started together – in 2017.

Frankly, I would love to accept that challenge – as I have so many others throughout my life as a businessman and a public servant – because I consider my four years as your president to be the greatest honor of my entire life. However, the decision to run again is not mine alone.

My beautiful wife, Melania, deserves to live her life free of the relentless public scrutiny that comes with being First Lady… and our son Barron deserves to grow into full manhood away from the ever-present public eye. Likewise, despite their unwavering support, my adult children should not have to face four more years of almost daily media attacks and groundless investigations.

And then there is our party, the Grand Old Party, founded by Abraham Lincoln and built upon the twin pillars of personal freedom and personal responsibility. If I thought for a moment that I was the Republican Party’s best chance of reclaiming the White House in 2024, I would not hesitate to run again despite the enormous personal sacrifices that such a campaign would require.

However, I can read a poll as well as – if not better than – the next guy, and they all point to the same irrefutable conclusion: if I want my America First agenda and my Make America Great Again crusade to succeed, I have to be willing to pass the baton and let someone else lead the next phase of this battle for the soul of our nation.

Yes, I truly care that much about this country, its people, and its founding principles. And so, although my natural competitiveness urges me to step back into the arena, I have unequivocally and irrevocably decided not to run for President of the United States in 2024. Instead, I will offer my full support, wisdom, and counsel to whomever the Republican Party nominates as its standard bearer.

Once again, thank you for the privilege of serving as your president. May God continue to bless you, your family, and the United States of America… a country that Ronald Reagan often referred to as “the last best hope of man on earth.”
