The (Biblical) Scores Are In

The Center for Biblical Business – a branch of the Christian Employers Alliance – has released its 2026 Biblical Business Index, and some Treasure Coast officials didn’t fare as well as expected.
The BBI is a comprehensive faith-based policy platform that monitors and interprets federal and state policies through a faith-based lens – understanding not only what the laws say, but how they align with biblical truth. It then measures how individual legislators, their positions, and their votes coincide with Scripture.

Leading the pack in Washington D.C. is Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who was the only member of Congress to receive a 100% rating. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Rep. Eric Burlson (R-MO), Rep. Elijah Crane (R-AZ), and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) rounded out the top five, each with a score of 98% or higher.

Other notable names included Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) at 94.6%; Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) at 93%; Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) at 91.3%; and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), both at 91.2%. All the above officeholders finished in the top 30 out of 535.

So where did Rep. Mike Haridopolous (R-FL) rank? In a disappointing three-way tie for 195th place with a score of 77.33%. At least that is better than Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL), who if he wins re-election in November, will represent Indian River County in the new 9th congressional district with his 11.45% rating, good for 317th place.

For the record, both Haridopolos and Soto ranked below Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who came in 125th with a score of 82.6%.

As far as the Florida state legislature is concerned, Rep. Dana Trabulsky (R-84) was the highest-ranked local official at 87.8%, putting her in a 47-way tie for 9th place. The rest of our Treasure Coast legislators were closely bunched as follows: Rep. Robbie Brackett (R-34) at 85.4; Sen. Gayle Harrell (R-31) at 85.3%; and Sen. Erin Grall (R-29) at 83.8%. Sen. Debbie Mayfield (R-19), who represents the Space Coast, did not receive a rating.

Not bad, just not great… and certainly not as good as Rep. Monique Miller (R-33), who represents Brevard and Osceola counties and scored 89.4%, tied for second-best in Tallahassee. But from my vantage point, Sen. Grall delivers the most “bang for the buck” of all our local legislators, being responsible for both the Parental Bill of Rights and the 6-week ban on abortions.

The bottom line is that we, on the Treasure Coast, are well-represented but there is always room for improvement, biblically speaking. But, of course, that goes for all of us... including me.
