Why Alejandro Mayorkas Should Be Tried for Treason

After an implausible two-month delay, the House managers have finally delivered to the Senate the articles of impeachment for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Because the Democrats hold a slim majority in the upper chamber of Congress, there is no way that Mayorkas will meet the 67-vote threshold for conviction and removal from office.

That is a shame and that is a crime, but that is also the political reality of the situation.

On Mayorkas’ watch, America’s southern border has gone from a somewhat manageable nuisance to an all-out crisis that threatens our nation’s economy and security, let alone its survival. As a direct result of the Biden administration’s lax immigration policies, illegal border crossings have increased by 40% since 2021 and a whopping 100% since 2019.

If that doesn’t meet the definition of high crimes and misdemeanors, I don’t know what does.

Of course, Secretary Mayorkas is simply following orders from the White House, but he remains complicit and therefore culpable. If he had an ounce of integrity, he would have objected to President Biden’s “come one, come all” invitation that he issued during the 2020 campaign. But alas, Secretary Mayorkas lacks both a backbone and a conscience as demonstrated by his repeated and boldfaced lies to Congress while under oath.

Did I mention high crimes and misdemeanors? Surely perjury qualifies under that heading.

No matter, because Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is sure to sweep the entire matter under the carpet in a hurried and glossed-over “show” trial that will play well to the cameras and his constituents. But when, not if, Mayorkas is acquitted, that should not be the end of the story.

Again when, not if, the Republicans take control of the Senate in January 2025, one of their first orders of business should be to prosecute Mayorkas for treason. Why? Because when he was confirmed as DHS Secretary, Mayorkas took the following oath of office…

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”

Has he supported the Constitution and defended it against its enemies, both foreign and abroad? More than 35,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions have been apprehended at the southern border since President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas took office, so one might be led to think so. However, there have been 1.7 million “gotaways” during that same time period. Another 169 people on the terrorist watch list were caught in FY2023, which begs the question: how many more murderers, rapists, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, and terrorists have slipped through the cracks?

If President Biden hadn’t been so hellbent to overturn every Trump era policy, none of this would have happened and the entire border crisis could have been averted. Unfortunately, a combination of ego and hate mixed with an insatiable desire for political retribution got the best of Sleepy, Creepy, and Sleazy Joe… and America is now suffering the consequences.

Yes, DHS Secretary Mayorkas is a traitor through and through, but so is China Joe Biden. Hopefully, he will be voted out of office in November but if not, Job #1 for the new Republican-led House and Senate should be to prosecute both men for extreme dereliction of duty.

Let’s just hope we don’t have another 9/11 fueled by illegal immigrants before that happens.
